Frequently Asked Questions
Great question — midrange safaris are super popular in Tanzania because they strike a really nice balance between comfort and value. Here’s what you can expect in terms of accommodation when doing a midrange safari to Serengeti and Ngorongoro:
🏕️ General Features of Midrange Safari Accommodation:
Comfortable, clean lodges or tented camps — usually en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets.
Great locations — often inside or very close to the parks, especially in the Serengeti.
Nice meals included — usually full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Electricity and Wi-Fi — generally available in common areas, sometimes limited in the rooms/tents.
Authentic safari vibe — canvas-style tented camps with solid floors and real beds are common, especially in Serengeti.
🏕️ In Serengeti (Midrange Options):
Tented Camps like:
Tanzania Bush Camps
Serengeti Heritage Camp
Kati Kati Tented Camp
These are semi-permanent camps, often following the migration, giving you incredible access to wildlife.
Expect: Private tents, en-suite bathrooms, cozy dining tents, campfire evenings.
🏔️ In Ngorongoro:
You often stay near the Ngorongoro Crater rim (colder climate, stunning views).
Midrange lodges/hotels might include:
Rhino Lodge – very popular with amazing views and great proximity to the crater descent road.
Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge – older but well-located.
Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge – slightly off the rim, but very charming.
🌟 Extras That Are Sometimes Included:
Sundowners (drinks at sunset)
Hot water bottles in bed (it can get cold near the crater!)
Cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages (optional)

Usually 3 to 3.5 stars.
Example:

Generally 3 to 4 stars.
Example:
Rhino Lodge – 3★
Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge – 3.5★ (some might rate it as 4★ for views)
