Frequently asked Questions
The best time to book a safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania depends a bit on what you want to see — especially if you’re interested in the Great Migration or specific weather conditions.
Best Times to Visit:
1. June to October (Dry Season – Peak Safari Season)
Why it’s great:
Best wildlife viewing overall, especially in Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
Animals gather around water sources — easier to spot.
Fewer mosquitoes and more pleasant weather (dry and sunny).
Special events:
June–July: Wildebeest migration starts moving north — dramatic river crossings in northern Serengeti.
August–October: Migration continues north; great predator action.
2. December to March (Green Season, but still popular)
Why it’s great:
Calving season in the southern Serengeti — thousands of wildebeest give birth.
Amazing for predator sightings (lots of hunting action).
Lush landscapes and fewer tourists than in peak months.
Ngorongoro Crater is excellent year-round due to its unique enclosed ecosystem.
When to Book:
Book at least 6 to 12 months in advance if you’re going in June–October (high season) or during calving season (Jan–March).
For budget or shoulder seasons (like April–May or November), 3–6 months in advance is usually okay.
🌧️ Things to Consider:
April–May: Rainy season, so some areas can be harder to access. Cheaper, fewer crowds, still beautiful — but more unpredictable.
November: Short rains, but still doable and less busy.
